The model

What is a Fractional GC?

A Fractional General Counsel is a senior lawyer who embeds into your business on a part-time, contract, or retainer basis — giving you high-level legal leadership at a fraction of the cost of a full-time hire. You get strategic legal oversight, flexible hours, and predictable fees without the $300k+ overhead.

Unlike engaging an external law firm, a Fractional GC works within your business. They attend your meetings, understand your systems and your people, and give you practical advice — not a 10-page memo.

We work with companies, SMEs, and scaling organisations that need senior legal oversight but not a permanent hire.

What we do

  • Commercial contracts and procurement — drafting, reviewing, negotiating
  • Corporate governance — board papers, resolutions, compliance
  • Regulatory compliance — industry-specific rules and obligations
  • M&A and due diligence — preparation, negotiation, risk review
  • IP protection — strategy and advice
  • Risk management — issue spotting and dispute handling
  • Managing external counsel — coordinating specialists when needed
  • Company secretarial — for unlisted companies
  • Procurement & tender advice
"I don't just solve legal problems — I help businesses avoid risks, unlock opportunities, and accelerate growth."
— Katrina Bills FGIA

No full-time overhead

No leave entitlements, super, PAYG, or payroll tax. You pay for the hours and expertise you actually need.

Faster & more cost-effective

A contract review quoted at $10–20K by a law firm? A secondee may complete an initial review same day.

Part of your team

Your secondee is embedded in your business, working under your direction, covered by your insurance and focusing on what you need delivered.

Competitive pricing

Large secondment firms add 40–60% on top. We don't. Rates closer to a pro-rata salary than law firm hourly billing.

The secondment model

How Does It Work?

01

Discovery call

We talk about your business, your legal challenges, and what kind of support you need. No obligation, no billing clock.

02

Tailored engagement

We agree on scope — from a half day per week to full interim support. Minimum commitment: half a day per week for one month.

03

Embedded & working

Katrina joins your team under the secondment model — working under your direction, remotely with meetings on-site by agreement, covered by your insurance.

04

Practical outcomes

Advice you can actually use — not lengthy memos. Solutions that consider your systems, people, and commercial goals.

Prefer a traditional engagement? We can also arrange work through a law firm if that better suits your organisation.

We work with companies, government, and not-for-profit organisations — not individuals.
